Winter Clinics and Preparing for the New Year!

Winter months are the time that I love to go to clinics. They give me an excuse to not ride in the cold, moist, and bone chilling weather and I still get to learn! At the Pigeon Creek Farm Clinic in December, Tori Polonitza was there and I actually had a couple hours of free time to watch and learn. At the clinic, Tori had everyone try a leg yielding/turning routine. It was great to watch and even more fun when Anne J. (the owner) was instructed to keep her elbows in. This is what I love about Anne – she has been riding for years and still receives instructions.

When trainers come into my store and talk to me about the clinics they have participated in, I'M IMPRESSED. We all know the horse industry is continually evolving. We, as responsible instructors and trainers, should always be adding to our existing knowledge. I used to be able to go to horse shows, watch riders and be able to tell you where they rode. Some could POSE great and win the equitation classes but if their horse spooked one step to the side – off they'd come!

Winter Clinics are a great way to get excited for the Show season. You get to start from the beginning and anything bizarre your horse did last year is forgotten. The clinics have given you a chance to improve and thus, a new slat to work with.

What do YOU need to be "new and shiny" for 2009 season? Check out our NEW RJ Classic hunt coats that have just arrived! Ariat has beautiful cool max blouses due for arrival February 1st as well. Kerrits carries a boot cut breech that are perfect for the academy schooling shows – come on in and see for yourself!

As you've read in my previous letters, I'm doing a lot more Dressage riding. In turn, I've been getting many more requests for full-seat breeches and coats in black or the more formal Dressage type. Come February, most of the new clothing should be in-stock. The greatest thing about a New Year is NEW merchandise – so come on in and get motivated!

See you at our Show Clothing & Boot Fitting Clinic March 7th. In the mean time, check out some of our in-store specials:

  • 20% off winter clothing (excludes The North Face) in-stock only
  • 10% off winter blankets (in-stock only)
  • 50% off SSG fleece gloves with $20 or more purchase

 Save the Date!

On Saturday, March 7, at 2:00pm we will be having a show clothing and boot fitting clinic. Our Ariat representative, Krisy Spiegelberg, will be here to help and answer your questions. We will demonstrate how tall English riding boots should look, fit and feel and how English show clothing should properly fit. We will also give you tips on how to groom your horse for the show ring and will provide free samples of grooming products that you can take home and try out. We will have specials on our Ariat boots and show clothing after the demonstrations.

Special note for the Washington and Waukesha county 4-H members: this will count as a clinic. Please mark your calendars and we look forward to seeing you on March 7th.

P.S. How do you like our new website and email newsletter? We're very excited for the change and hope you like it. Suggestions are welcome and feel free to click on the links to the left to connect to our website.
